About This Quote

Siamese twins are a type of conjoined twins. The two fetuses were joined at the abdomen and one was a boy and the other a girl. After they were born, they were taken from their mother and put in an incubator together. The doctors wanted to separate them so that one would live as a boy and the other as a girl.

However, when doing this, they discovered that they could not separate them without killing one of them. The doctors then realized that separating the two babies would kill them both. They then had to choose which one would live and which one would die.

They decided on the one who was a boy, choosing him over the girl who was a girl. A third party agreed with this decision because he sacrificed his life for the sake of the greater good of humanity, even though his sacrifice did not make anyone happy or better off.
